I spotted “A Street Cat named Bob†in the German best-selling-list. Most probably this is a story only for pet lovers, was my first thought. By chance the English version of this book fell in my hands and I decided to read it to brush up my English.Surprisingly I found the story very captivating. It tells about a young man - James Bowen – a former drug addict who lived temporarily on the streets and who by chance found Bob, the ginger colored street cat. By adopting the animal James got somebody to care for and to take over responsibility.The friendship between pet and man is really extraordinary and heart warming. After having read the first book, I immediately ordered the sequences, because I wanted to read more about these two “guysâ€.And I am looking forward to the movie which is just being shot.Of course I award five stars.
Unbedingt lesen, eines der herzerwärmendsten, positivsten Bücher, die ich lange gelesen habe. Und definitiv nicht unbedingt ein Katzenbuch....auch ein Menschenbuch :-) James Bowen kommt vor allem auch ohne Schuldzuweisungen an andere aus, das finde ich sehr symphatisch und beeindruckend. Beim Lesen seiner Geschichte könnte man schon Wut empfinden auf einige Personen, aber es ist ja im Leben so, dass einen das selber nie weiterbringt, von daher wirklich Hut ab.Diese Rezension bezieht sich allgemein auf alle Bob Bücher. Schade, dass es nicht mehr davon gibt. Würde es auch in Englisch unbedingt empfehlen, lässt sich sehr gut lesen und kommt immer besser im Original als in einer Übersetzung.
Da ich selber Katzen liebe und auch stolzer 'Diener' einer Katze bin, kann ich nur sagen Katzenliebhaber kauft euch das Buch. Aber auch den Nicht-Katzenliebhabern kann ich nur sagen kauft euch das Buch. Das erste Buch habe ich bereits im Eiltempo gelesen und war gespannt was das zweite Buch bringt. Man begleitet James und Bob erneut auf einem Stück ihres Lebens. Wie im ersten Buch ist es nicht wie in einem Disney-Film alles Sonnenschein. Die Probleme von Menschen die auf der Straße leben oder gelebt haben und von Drogen abhängig waren - das ist es was dem Leser in den Büchern von James Bowen vor Augen geführt wird. Erneut macht James klar, dass er selbst diesen Weg eingeschlagen hat, zum ändern seines Lebens jedoch Hilfe braucht. Von Bob bekommt James Hilfe und Unterstützung auf erstaunliche Art und Weise.Ich kann es nicht erwarten das nächste Buch zu lesen.
Es ist wunderschön, ein neues Lebenszeichen von Bob und James zu bekommen. Während ich als Leser bereits im ersten Teil "A Street Cat named Bob" mein Herz komplett an den Vierbeiner verloren habe (sehr zum Ärger meines schwarzen Katers namens Mozart), war ich dieses Mal froh, dass es beiden gut geht. Und dass sich ihre Lage Schritt für Schritt weiter verbessert. Bob und James müssen nicht mehr jeden Tag mit dem Bus nach Covent Garden fahren, um ihre Musik und ihre eingespielten Kunststücke einem Weltpublikum zu präsentieren, und sie müssen auch nicht mehr jeden Tag The Big Issue verkaufen. James hat mehrere Bücher veröffentlicht, und ich hoffe von ganzen Herzen, dass das Geld, das die beiden dadurch verdienen, ausreichend für Katzen- und Menschenfutter bis an ihr Lebensende ist!!!!!
The book goes into great detail and is very touching.I think everyone should have a chance to read this wonderful book.
This tells us what Bob and James do with the once in a lifetime opportunity they have been given. It is nice to see that Bob is still making sure that his chaotic friend is still getting a grip on his life.A must read for all cat lovers, homeless and social workers.Recommended, but read the previous book first.
Ich hatte zuvor den ersten Teil auf deutsch gelesen und konnte nicht warten, bis der zweite Teil in deutsch rauskommt. Daher musste die englische Ausgabe her. Die ist aber echt leicht und flüssig zu lesen; und mindestens so anrührend wie die in deutsch!
