Ausgezeichnetes Buch. Das Englisch ist allerdings sehr anspruchsvoll, ein Wörterbuch sollte also immer bereit liegen. Ansonsten glänzt das Buch mit enorm vielen Details, man merkt Mallaby seinen journalistischen Hintergrund jederzeit an. Klare Empfehlung, wer sich auch nur einen Funken für die Industrie interessiert, wird um dieses Buch nicht herumkommen.Der Autor zeichnet hier die Geschichte der Hedgefonds in mehreren Etappen von ihren Anfängen bis zur Krise von 2008 detailgetreu nach. Manchmal verliert er sich aber dabei zu sehr in den Details, was es bisweilen schwierig macht das Ganze in einen übergeordnetes Konzept einzuordnen.
Das Buch beschreibt die Geschichte der Hedgefonds sehr interessant. Dabei werden nicht nur die Strategien erklärt sondern auch auf die Menschen eingegangen. Gerade Letzteres ist sehr schön, weil die Persönlichkeit der Manager, wenn sie in den Medien auftauchen, gerne unberücksichtigt bleibt. Das Buch ist recht objektiv geschrieben und zeigt auch deswegen ein positives Bild der Hedgefonds. Trotz des positiven Bildes wird im letzten Kapitel erklärt,wie eine Regulierung dieser Branche aussehen könnte. Ein Kapitel das Politiker mal lesen sollten.Zum Thema Sprache: Man braucht schon gute Englischkenntnisse um das Buch zu verstehen, vor allem sollten Vokabeln im Bereich Finanzen bekannt sein. Ich selber hatte ein Wörterbuch immer griffbereit.Die 5 Sterne gibt es von mir, weil das Buch einen schönen Einblick in die Welt der Hedgefonds bietet. Dabei werden Strategien und Menschen schön beschrieben. Wer dieses Buch liest, wird sich wundern bei dem Niveau der öffentlichen Diskussionen zu dem Thema, dass der Begriff "Hedgefonds" immerhin richtig geschrieben wird.
Anybody who is interested in finance and in particular in money management, should read this book about hedge funds. In this book you will learn about the history of hedge funds and how hedge funds evolved over time. It is a great piece and worth reading if you have an addiction to finance and the world of finance, money management and regulation. This book is as good a teaching book as it is an exciting story telling book. You will find out about how finance works, will learn some words and methods commonly known and used in financial management and this all in a thrilling way.
Which God? And who are these five folks?Who am i to judge this book? I enjoyed reading it, and this is one of these books you gladly read twice.
This is a great book if you want to learn about some of the most successful Hedge Fund managers of all time. It is well written and you will get a good glance in their strategies. Definitely one of my favorite 5 books.
