Tom Wainwright writes in a fun and flowing style. He does cite papers and studies to present the case for his arguments and takes an overall look at the supply chain from starting from the farmer, chemist/producer, smuggler, wholeseller and final point of sale. Inbetween he tells anecdotes of first and second hand stories, which may not always lighten the mood but for sure are interesting. I bought the book for the downtimes on a long weekend vacation and it was a real page turner. Can recommend.

I commend the author for his fresh approach to writing on the topic. It is easy, and fun, to read, while at the same time making you think differently and question the effectiveness of the "War on Drugs".
His comparison of drug cartels with businesses make so much sense and his knowledge is very vast. By far the best book I have read about drug trafficking, cartels, etc. and I have read lots!

Each chapter concentrates on a different aspect of the illegal (drug) market and gives insights into its workings. I was surprised by the wealth of information. The basic economic theories are easy to follow, even for people without any kind of background in this area.
